The Bahamas is an archipelago comprising 2,500 cays and 700 islands. The islands have a sub-tropical climate, extremely warm and friendly people, and the clearest waters in the entire Caribbean region – according to the astronauts. It isn’t surprising that tourism is the island’s largest industry. It will be fun for you learn about the island’s history before actually visiting it, simply to know about its diverse characters in its past. You will find tales of the notorious pirates Calico Jack and Blackbeard, and Loyalists who escaped the American Revolution to reconstruct their lives on the then known British soil, it’s very interesting.

The Bahamas offers everything that one can think of for a wonderful vacation with loved ones. On the other hand, there are miles of isolated: winding stretches of untouched sand, warmed by the sun.

Both children and adults will enjoy the 5.5-hectare (14-acre) sea world with water slides, a lagoon for water sports, white sandy beaches, and underground grottoes plus an underwater viewing tunnel and the cascading waterfalls.

Another top resort is the Radisson Cable Beach and Golf Resort is set on 1,000 feet of Nassau’s most beautiful beach, the resort includes 7 acres of tropical waterscapes, indoor and outdoor restaurants offering diverse dining options from the casual poolside Dolphin Beach Grill to the gourmet cuisine of Amici’s.

Besides its most famous sun-bathing in spectacular beachscapes, the island also offers great championship outdoor sports and golf courses, along with swimming with dolphins and diving, duty-free shopping, and great cuisine.

So are you ready to book your vacation? The Bahamas with its turquoise waters awash with powder-white beaches stretched over miles, is waiting for you.

Destination Ideas For Fantastic Winter Trips

The best way to combat the biting cold of the winter is to simply run away, to take winter vacations to somewhere warm and comfortable; somewhere where your toes would not seem frozen; somewhere where you would not be straining your back clearing the snow off your front door and driveway. We have all heard of birds that migrate during winters. So be smart and choose mounds of sand over mounds of snow.

If lounging on the beach is your thing, then head straight for Antigua or may be to the little island of Barbuda which neighbors it. There are as many beaches in this Caribbean country as there are days in a year, yes 365 or more. The clear blue waters make it a paradise for water sport lovers. Temperatures hovering around 80 degrees make for great winter holidays, for even those of you who don’t care for the beach, for you also have the choice of exploring and enjoying St. John, Antigua’s capital which lies in the northern part.

Speaking English and playing cricket, both of which are part of Antigua’s culture may seem to be the legacy of British imperialism, and some may not want to be reminded of this aspect of world history. For them then Rio de Janeiro is a better option. The Portuguese who once ruled here have left Brazil with the stamp of being a party loving country. Equally famous they are for being devoutly religious. This largest country of South America boasts of Samba clubs side by side with being home to the 128 feet tall statue of Christ the Redeemer which weighs more than 1000 tons, seeming to gaze down from the top of the Corcovado Peak.

If you feel like a traitor for deserting your home country in favor of this religious version of the Statue of Liberty, then head for the sandy beaches of Perth, which will give you an English speaking, homely atmosphere. Flanked by the dry sandy desert on one side and the clear blue ocean, it is an idyllic holiday destination. You can both take in the King’s Park which spans 400 hectares and explore the Swan Lake, which lie in the Southern part, or head to Monkey Mia in the Northern part to swim with the dolphins. You may even settle to sight see in the centre of the city which has fabulous examples of 19th century architecture, built with convict labor.

For those of you who think that Perth is too far off, then Singapore is the next best choice. This modern city has a population of 4.8 million. This island hums with life offering you a choice of enjoying either the local cuisine of noodles and curry, or Sentosa Island, the popular amusement park, or for that matter taking in both.

Should Sentosa seem to be catering to childish tastes, then the ideal choice would be the Sunshine State of Florida. This is out and out a tourist destination for winter trips and there are sure to be great winter vacation deals to be found. All you need is a bottle of sunscreen, a book and your swim suit / trunks and you are ready to go enjoy the warm and sunshine available much closer to home!

Visiting the Gambia

Holiday travel to distant, more unusual destinations is no longer just the remit of the seasoned adventurer. With the expansion of cheap flight options, more and more resorts, that were previously “off the radar” for the traditional holidaymaker, are now available. The Gambia, situated on the west coast of Africa is one such option. The major benefit of this location is undoubtedly its climate, which boasts almost year round daily sunshine and very agreeable subtropical weather. Rainfall is negligible during the months November to May, however the rainy season months of July, August and September are best avoided. Average daytime temperatures along The Gambia’s Atlantic coast are a pleasant 24 degrees Centigrade with around 9 hours sunshine every day outside the rainy season.

The country sees itself as a viable alternative to winter Caribbean holidays in that it offers very similar weather without the disadvantages of long flights and big timezone changes. The Gambia operates on GMT meaning that jetlag is not a problem and the typical flying time from Europe departure airports is around six hours.

The authorities of The Gambia are very open about what the traveller can expect during their stay. They admit that the road system is in need of some repair, that street sellers can be a nuisance sometimes and that the local electricity supply may fail occasionally. These problems are in themselves part of the charm of the country. It is not a high-tech, over commercialised holiday destination, although with the many five star hotels and resorts, visitors will find all the creature comforts they need. Over 100,000 foreign visitors travel to The Gambia annually with half of those people coming from the UK.

Before I go on to describe the real attractions of this country I must point out that safari excursions, like those offered in other parts of Africa are not available and the coastline is also unsuitable for scuba diving due to strong Atlantic surf and undercurrents.

Regular flights to Banjul, the capital of The Gambia, leave from six UK airports currently, offering the traveller plenty of choice.

So what makes The Gambia an ideal winter getaway? Well obviously the weather is a big factor, but the unspoilt landscape together with the friendly local population serve to generate a charm rarely experienced in other holiday areas. The vast beaches are both dramatic and peaceful, food and drink is both high quality and reasonably priced and local culture is easy to experience. Because the country is still developing as a tourist resort, money goes a lot further there than in other, more developed resorts. Only forty years ago the number of tourists visiting the country could be measured in the hundreds but, despite rapid expansion since then, the authorities have been keen to maintain tight control over development. They have allocated specific areas of the coast for tourism development and restricted building heights to three stories to avoid the problems seen in the holiday hot spots of southern Spain and Portugal. There is a wide choice of high quality hotel accommodation and top class restaurants offer value for money when eating out.

For visitors who need more than long lazy days on beautiful beaches there are a number of popular excursion types to choose from. Although the traditional African safari is not an option, birdwatching trips can be spectacular, with the Tanbi Wetland Reserve proving popular due to its location just south of Bajul. The unspoilt Pirang Forest Park, the Makasutu Culture Forest and the ancient burial grounds at Wassu are all options for getting away from the beach.

Flights to The Gambia arrive at Banjul airport which is situation 20 km from the main town. Transfer is usually by taxi at a cost of around 10 pounds for a single journey. The airport itself was once a World War II Allied airfield, but a new terminal, opened in 1997, brought modern amenities.

How to Concoct a Saucy Party

It’s that time of year when hosts and hostesses turn their thought to themes for parties celebrating everything from their favorite college or professional football game and Super Bowl parties to Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s parties, and celebrations of All of the other World Holidays during this holiday season.

We at I-ShopTheWorld are what you might call “party people,” so we have some party idea suggestions that will add variety and spice up your party: host a saucy chili cook-off.

Compile your guest list so you can create teams of 3-6 cooks. On your invitation let your guests know they’ll be participating in a chili cook-off and who’ll be on their team (have some extra fun and mix up couples). Ask them to bring any special ingredients they like to use in their chili, but let them know that every thing they could possibly will likely be provided and everyone will be starting with a basic batch of chili you will prepare in advance. Then they can spice it up. Be sure to arrange for enough pots and utensils for each team to have their own. Tell them to BYOA (bring your own apron).

Here’s how it works: The day before your party prepare a big batch of chili starter sauce using your choice of basic ingredients. Here’s one recipe. We suggest you multiply the ingredients to accommodate the number of teams you’ve organized with a hefty batch of starter sauce.

Basic chili sauce recipe to serve 6
• 1 pound lean ground beef or steak chopped into bite-size pieces
• 1/2 cup chopped onion
• 2 chopped garlic cloves
• 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes or tomato puree
• 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
• 1 teaspoon salt (regular or garlic)
Preparation:
Spray the skillet with nonstick cooking spray or a light coating of an oil, such as olive oil. Brown the ground beef or chopped steak with the onion. Add the remaining ingredients stirring as you go. Note, you are not adding beans at this point; your guest cooks get to do that. Cover and simmer for at least 20 minutes. Refrigerate till party time.

On the day of the party, scoop up an equal amount of the basic chili sauce for each team, then invite them to complete the cook-off by adding any of the following ingredients you’ll have available in whatever quantities they prefer:

• cooked, browned ground pork
• pre-cooked sausage
• cans of beans, including kidney, chili, black, cannelloni, and pinto
• cans of vegetarian refried beans with chilies
• cans of tomato sauce or whole tomatoes with and without chilies
• cans of whole kernel corn
• fresh tomatoes
• fresh red, green, and yellow sweet peppers
• fresh jalapeno peppers
• fresh squash and zucchini
• garlic powder
• paprika
• fresh natural black pepper, white pepper, dried chili spice, and India long pepper spice
• an assortment of gourmet Tortuga sauces, such as Sweet Heat Carib, Mango & Ginger Stir Fry, Hot Caribbean Pepper, and Hell Fire Hot Pepper Sauce.
• jars of Tortuga Gourmet Wildflower and Citrus Honey

Give each team a couple of hours to finish the cook-off, then conduct the taste contest and let your guests vote on the best. If you get a wow! Winner, consider having the team try it again for charity, presuming they have kept track of their ingredients and can repeat the taste (check out those opportunities at http://www.chilicookoff.com).

Consider serving other I-ShopTheWorld products like Thai coffee and tea. Treat your guest cooks to beverages made with Tortuga Rum Punch Mix. And, don’t forget the dessert; you’ll be so busy making the basic chili and organizing teams and ingredients, you may want to serve a variety tray of Tortuga Gourmet Fudge, rum balls, or rum cakes.

Go ahead, just do it.

Tell everyone to “pen” in the date, start arranging the details, and place your order online.

Let I-ShopTheWorld help you concoct the sauciest party your family and friends have ever had.

All-Inclusive Beach Resorts

When you’re vacation, you have some pretty important things to think about. Order the garlic shrimp, or the fettuccine alfredo? Snorkel first, or scuba dive? Get up early to watch the sun rise over the beach, or don’t bother going to bed at all? Of all the things you have to worry about on vacation, the one thing you shouldn’t think about is your budget.

Most of us never get to live the life of the rich and famous, taking lavish vacations and spending unlimited sums on the best of everything. Instead, we live the life of the rich and famous at all-inclusive beach resorts.

To be sure, budgets are a fact of life. But should having a spending limit necessarily mean suppressing all of your desires, just because they’re not listed in your budget? Of course not. When you’re on vacation, you deserve to be pampered. You’ve worked hard all year, and you’ve earned the right to eat, drink and go a little crazy.

All-inclusive beach resort vacations make it possible for vacationers to get the most out of their travel dollars. Today there are over 400 hotels in the Caribbean and Mexico alone offering all-inclusive beach resort vacation packages for budget-savvy tourists. However, all-inclusive beach resort vacations aren’t always as problem-free as they may seem. You need to carefully compare available resorts before choosing your vacation destination.

Research and compare all-inclusive beach resorts, and you’ll find that the packages, accommodations and resorts themselves can greatly vary. Some hotels offer packages that are designed for couples only. Others are created for singles, for gays or lesbians, or for families. Many beach resorts are intended for adults only, so be very careful if you’re planning a family vacation.

Aside from the resorts themselves, vacation packages can vary in terms of the services they provide. Unfortunately, not everyone’s perception of “all inclusive” is the same. Some include airfare and hotel. Others encompass airfare, hotel, transfers, and some meals. There are resort vacations that are all-inclusive, with the exception of airfare. Some beach resorts include all alcoholic drinks, as long as they’re not premium brands, or served before 7 pm or after midnight. Compare prices and offers, and you’ll find ways to save money. Including airfare as part of an all-inclusive package can be cheaper than booking and paying for your own flight, and will save you extra steps in planning your trip.

If you want to find the best deal, it’s best to first identify what you want and need in your all-inclusive beach resort vacation. Once you realize the features and amenities you’re expecting, you can begin to sort through all the vacation deals you’ll find. Travel agencies and the Internet are great ways to find many resorts and packages to compare.

The greatest advantage to booking an all-inclusive beach resort vacation is having everything you need for just one price. Knowing this, you can relax and enjoy your holidays knowing there won’t be any nasty surprises waiting at your destination. Your budget will stay intact, and all you’ll have to worry about is whether to have the pina colada, or the marguerita.

How to Get the Best Cruise and Stay Deals

To get the best deals on stays and cruises, a fair amount of research and effort should be put in. The best place to start the search is the World Wide Web (the internet). Popular sites such as Expedia, Travelzoo, Orbitz and Travelocity can be looked for both, and sites like Last Minute Cruises can be referred to for cheap cruises. Aggregator sites like Mobissimo, Sitessidestep, and Kayak are also a good source. Travel agents are also privy to very good deals from time to time, so getting in touch with some is definitely a good idea. Calling the cruise operator or the hotel directly to find out about existing discounts is also an option. Their respective websites can also serve up valuable information, as special deals and packages are updated on the websites quite regularly. Whilst traveling for business, corporate rates should be asked for.

For a cruise, a good time to start looking would be at least 2 months before the planned trip. Try and surf through as many sites as possible because you never know which site could hand you the best deal at any one given point in time.

The time of the year during which you plan take the cruise or stay can also be a factor. You should not expect discounts during periods like Christmas, New Year, Thanksgiving, Easter holidays or spring break.

When it comes to cruises, repositioning cruises are known to offer some very good deals. One important thing to keep in mind if you are considering taking a repositioning cruise is that you will need to get an air ticket for your journey back home, since these cruises commence and terminate at different ports. If, however, a good deal can be obtained on the airfare, this could be a very nice way to take advantage of the ship’s repositioning.

A large number of cruise liners that do rounds of the Caribbean are known to offer considerable discounts through the hurricane season. In the eventuality of bad weather, these trips could be delayed or cancelled.

These things must be kept in mind to avoid disappointment:
Make sure you know very clearly, what you want; or else, you could find yourself going through offers which include second rate cabins. Cabins in close proximity to children’s activity rooms and elevators, below discotheques, and other noisy places in the ship are transferred to clearance lists for a reason.

If a policy to match prices is being offered by a web site or travel agent, make sure you go through it very carefully. While it might appear that you are being provided with the best deal, you might come across a better one later. Particulars for matching prices do vary from provider to provider.

The fine print of the booking should be read completely. There could be a mention of non-refundable items that are part of the cruise booking.

Double check on the kind of room allocated to you; also check to see if it is for single occupancy or double occupancy.

All in all, a little research, can take you a long way.

Finding the Best Winter Break

Tour operators and major airlines operate all year round and have to maintain their profit margins. For those seeking either the winter sun or snow, you can find good holiday deals for this time of year.

We all get fed up with the UK weather at this time of year and many people book a winter break. If you want to get away to the sun, then the most popular winter sun destinations include the Canary Islands, Spain and Egypt. These destinations offer excellent and consistent temperatures but it is also worth remembering that Europe can also offer plenty of alternatives. If you can afford a long haul holiday, then the Caribbean is one of the most popular destinations with Bahamas and Barbados favourites for everyone. Or you could go further afield and try some of the delights of the Indian Ocean such as Goa and the Maldives.

Skiing holidays are associated with the winter and the most popular places include France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland or anywhere in Europe that offers snow and mountains. Many travel to America or Canada where skiing is a national pastime. Skiing was once the hobby of the rich and famous but prices have declined in recent years and there are many good deals around for all types of skier, from the learner to the more experienced. Make sure you check the projected snow falls of the area that you choose – in recent years, some resorts have seen declining levels of snow which has made skiing sporadic.

If you just want to get away for a winter holiday city break, there are shopping trips available to all the major cities of the world, from Paris to New York. You can combine your Christmas shopping with sightseeing and take in the traditional culture of winter in other cities of the world. As a rule of thumb, prices will be higher over the holiday period so if you are able to get away before or after, then you stand a better chance of a cheaper deal.

No Matter What You are Looking for Colombia is the Right Spot

If you want to rest by contemplating nature in order to forget the environment of the city or to go to a special place to practice extreme sports or to spend money and free time in an intensive medical treatment or perhaps, an aesthetic surgery, you should go to Colombia because no matter what you want for holidays it is the destination to please everyone.

In terms of nature, it is a marvellous spectacle due to the fact that Colombia has charming places with different climates and landscapes. There are forests, deserts, mountains, beaches and jungles, among others.

People who want to enjoy nature can rent a farm in the coffee area of the country or can visit wild places. An interesting place is Leticia with its natural parks, such as Amacuyacu and The Monkeys Island, located in the Amazons forest. For people who like the contrast, the Alta Guajira territory has both the beach and the desert very close by as well as an indigenous and natural protected area. In the two regions of the country, Amazons and Guajira, tourists make contact with the natives, observe fauna and flora and buy typical handicraft.

For kids and people who are animal lovers, Colombia has wonderful theme parks or interactive parks such as Panaca, Los Ocarros, Zooparque los Caimanes, and Matecana where you can enjoy the life in the field because they offer many activities and shows that really make visitors to be in contact with nature.

The already mentioned places are not the unique examples because thanks to its geographical location Colombia has five natural regions (Andean, Caribbean, Pacific, Orinoquia and the Amazon) with parks and other natural attractions.
