Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2010
CATWALK sensation Benny Glendinning from Belfast is eyeing up a glittering modelling career after scooping first place at last night’s star-studded Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2010 awards final in London. Benny, aged 20, was chosen from 10 finalists from across the UK and Europe at the glittering awards ceremony, which was hosted by celebrity stylist Gok Wan at the prestigious Victoria and Albert Museum in London. A throng of celebrities, including model and actress Kelly Brook, star of Pineapple of Dance Studios Louie Spence and supermodel Jodie Kidd, watched on as Benny was declared the winner and representation by London agency Storm Model Management for one year. ‘The event was absolutely spectacular and really was a once in a lifetime experience. It was amazing to be a part of such a fantastic show and to strut my stuff in my specs and edgy outfits,’ says Benny, who is currently studying a degree in pharmacy at Queen’s University in Belfast. ‘Everyone was lovely, looked amazing and the competition was so tough. I can’t believe I won a chance to be represented by Storm and a Caribbean holiday. I’ll remember this for the rest of my life.’ The judging panel included Daily Telegraph fashion editor Hilary Alexander, Capital FM Breakfast Show presenter and model Lisa Snowden and founder of Storm Model Management Sarah Doukas.
